Raising a green family can be challenging and rewarding at the same time. I enjoy raising a green family because it makes them aware of so much. Aware of how they treat and respect the environment. They pay attention to what they allow in their bodies. They continually learn about the world around them. So again, the rewards are countless.
The key points of raising a green family are:
Awareness on so many levels is what my family thrives off of no matter their age. We make awareness a family affair and enjoy it. Everything is conscious of teaching a purposeful journey without stress. The awareness journey presents itself most of the time.
Responsibility is king in our household and teaching it along the way truly makes it second nature. Raising a green family comes with much responsibility as you teach them to make a conscious responsible decision of awareness regarding their environment, health and giving back. In my opinion, the earlier you start the process the easier it comes to them. However, it is never too late to start teaching responsibility with chores, making recipes together for green products, conserving and doing their part to contribute to the family being green.
Health is respected through our organic choices and lifestyle. By choosing organic products, whether they are food or not, eliminated the health challenges that eventually come from not using natural products. Organic choices eventually become an organic lifestyle which is a healthy way of life. A healthy way of life tends to reduce or eliminate such health challenges like diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, colds, etc… This, in turn, reduces medical bills and health-related expenses all because you consciously choose a healthy lifestyle. People of a healthy lifestyle tend to live longer, have an increased self-esteem and better brain functions.
Wealth is taught constantly through many avenues as a green family. We actually save money on the front and back end through our green lifestyle and then we teach our children the importance of saving and financial goals. Living a conscious green lifestyle also teaches critical thinking as well as survival skills which in my opinion make you wealthy with knowledge and money because you think before you do.
Giving Back is a priceless lesson, directly and indirectly, no matter what. You can be an adult or a child who gives back and living a green lifestyle encourages giving back to the environment and people on an ongoing basis.
I would not trade raising a green family for anything in the world. It has been a great journey for my family and I. If you are wanting to make your family a little greener don’t worry just start now. Living the green life isn’t an all or nothing concept. Every small step will make a huge difference.
