Fall is my favorite time of year. The leaves are changing into beautiful colors. The air has a crispness about it and when you walk outside you can just breath in Fall… It is something about this time of year! While most people do Spring Cleaning every year, now is the perfect time to do a deep Fall cleaning, declutter and to reorganize your home.
I’m not saying you should give up Spring Cleaning though! I just think that we should do deep cleaning and clutter purging twice a year. Fall is a great time to do it as the Holidays are approaching and many of us host family and guests for Thanksgiving, Christmas and many other holidays.
It is the perfect time to get your home ready for the upcoming winter when you typically spend more time indoors.
So here are some ideas to get you started:
Start in One Room.
Don’t get overwhelmed by trying to do your entire home at the same time. Assign yourself a room for each day or maybe two. Start at one end and move through the room until you are finished. Then move on to the next place.
Fall is a great time to get rid of unwanted items in your house. It is also the perfect time to have a garage sale or yard sale to get rid of some of your unwanted items. So as you are cleaning the individual rooms make sure you declutter as you go. Set up two boxes or bags in the area you are working on. One for sale/donate and one for trash.
Go Through Your Clothes
This is a great time to go through your clothes and get rid of anything that doesn’t fit. Do not keep items just to keep them. Make sure you only keep things that you and your family wear. Start moving in your winter items to your closet, so you are ready as the weather gets cooler.
Close Down Your Garden
This time of year is also perfect to start closing down your garden. Save any seeds from plants you want to grow next year. Trim your plants and get everything ready for the long winter months.
Prepare Your Home For Winter
There are many projects that should be done every Fall to get your home ready for long and cold winter. Check your pipes, check your heaters, and clean your fireplace are just a few examples. Making sure your home is in tip-top shape before winter comes is necessary.
These are just a few ideas to help you get started on your Fall Home Cleaning and Maintenance projects. I have created a printable to help you further with a complete Fall Cleaning Checklist! Download it for FREE below! I know it will help you to get your home ready for winter in no time!
