Flowers are blooming, temperatures are rising, and you’re probably already putting away your sweaters in exchange for shorts and tanks. With all this renewed spring energy, you’re probably also preparing for spring cleaning, which means fresh, floral scents or citrusy aromas.
Rather than reach for harmful chemicals with artificial scents, now’s the time to go natural and try some essential oil recipes. The best part is that you can combine scents to make your own unique concoction, and it saves you big bucks in the long run.
Whatever suits you, we have recommendations of essential oils for your home to help you mark the changing seasons!
Carpets can be tricky to clean, and they can be even trickier to keep smelling fresh. However, the best spot treatments are ingredients that are mostly found in your pantry. All this recipe requires is:
- One (1) cup of baking soda
- 20-50 drops of melaleuca (tea tree) essential oil
That’s it! After that, all you have to do is let it sit overnight, and then sprinkle it over your carpet for fifteen minutes before vacuuming up the excess.
Tiles can accumulate a lot of dirt and grime if your regular cleaning routine only involves some water and a mop. But this recipe is potent and will keep your tile floors shining until summertime. Like store-bought tile cleaner, you can get really creative with the scents here! The basic ingredients for this are:
- 1.5 gallons of hot water
- Any organic, biodegradable liquid cleaner
- One (1) cup white vinegar
- Your choice of essential oils
For a basic disinfectant with a pleasant scent – add 20 drops of lemon essential oil and 10 drops rosemary. If you prefer a more citrusy scent, opt for 10 drops each of tangerine, lime, and lemon essential oils. Or, if you’re fonder of floral aromas, go with 10 drops geranium, 10 drops bergamot, and just a drop or two of jasmine.
For Air Fresheners/Diffusers:
Sometimes you just want some scents to greet you and your guests and create a calm atmosphere within your home. Essential oil diffusers are perfect for this, and they’ll last you months! Here are some unique blends to try out for ultimate spring vibes.

Escaping the dreariness of winter can be tough, especially if you live in a region that experiences erratic weather changes between seasons. But even if it’s still a little chilly where you live, you can still uplift your mood and come home to a clean home that smells like your own personal oasis. Enjoy!
