One of my favorite snacks in the states were cheez-its. I would always buy a few boxes at the store and stash them at home, work, and even in the car. They were one of the few snacks I could stomach during both of my pregnancies however I started reading labels and I started realizing how unhealthy my favorite snack was. So I embarked on a journey to make my own cheese crackers.
These cheese “crackers” are so simple to make and are a big hit with everyone in the family. You don’t need a ton of ingredients…. matter of fact you only need three things: cheese, salt & pepper. This makes the perfect recipe for your young kids to help with. So grab those kiddos and let us get into the kitchen!
I made this batch with jalapeños fresh out of our garden but feel free to try other toppings as well. Doesn’t this pepper look gorgeous! I can’t wait to get a ton more of Peppers. We currently have Anaheim Chilis, Jalapeños, Hot Cherry, Habernero, and Purple Gusto’s. We are expected to get a ton of peppers and I can’t wait to make tons of lots of delicious goodies with them.
Some other toppings you might want to try are cherry tomato slices, bacon, or chunks of apples or pears. These are a wonderful alternative to grain crackers if you’re on a carb or grain free eating plan. Enjoy these crackers with any dip of your choosing. I also love putting a dollop of my homemade Apricot Jam. A Little sweet and spiciness all in one bundle.
